Few people are fortunate enough in life to be given an opportunity to do what their hearts desire. Horse
breeders who gladly put up with the difficulties entailed in ownership are truly among the blessed. We at R'surene Morgan
Farm count ourselves among the fortunate few who have had the chance to continue a long-lived dream; for in fact, just as
the author dedicates his life to writing that special novel, we have literally devoted our lives to this very unique breed
of horse. Sacrifices are made, disappointments are met, and goals are shared.
What is breeding horses
all about? Few people indeed are able to create any lasting effect. Buildings crumble, monuments turn to dust, history books
rot away. Only in a contribution to a living legacy can our efforts last and be passed down to future generations. Every Morgan
horse owner takes out his horse's registration papers, and in tracing the lines on that simple piece of parchment, can read
the entire history of many breeders such as us; for in those papers are contained the very lives, hopes, and dreams of humans
and animals each living out its own life, and all contributing to later generations. Each generation embodies a constant striving
to bring forth an improved, better descendant. Every time a colt is born, we experience the same feeling:
"This animal is part of me-through him I will be judged-I am responsible for it. This
colt carries not only its ancestors on its back but our name also. One, two hundred years from now a Morgan horse will live
and its owner will know when he traces back to that animal's roots that we did the best we knew how." We
all have this responsibility to the Morgan horse. He deserves the best effort we can muster to insure the breed continues
and improves.
OWNERS ARE THE CARETAKERS OF THESE HUNDRED-ODD YEARS OF EFFORT. BREEDERS ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE
THE PRIVILEGE OF CARRYING ON THE LIVING LEGACY OF THE MORGAN.
If it is
indeed true as in the Sioux Death Chant that only the rocks live forever, then our total dedication is all in vain; but, as
each year passes, and as our horses become more widely known in a highly competitive world, and as new generations are born,
we feel this total dedication will also live forever in the minds and hearts of every Morgan horse owner. A result of 50+
years of breeding has assured us a niche in the continuing book of the Morgan. We now offer this legacy with pride. We sincerely
hope you will become an owner of an R'surene Morgan because only through you, the owner, can such dedication be truly worthwhile.
